Ovide Yencesse (Dijon 1869-1947), pupil to Thomas, Ponscarme and Levillain and Thomas. Awared a gold metal at the Exposition Universelle 1900 and at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1910 and 1920. Director of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Dijon. Influenced by the painter Eugene Carrière, therefore Yencesse was often called the "Carrière of medals". A large collection of his works are to be found in the Luxembourg Museum.
