In Kergornet, in the commune of Gestel, between Lorient and Quimperlé (Brittany), about 100 metres from the church, in a watercourse on the other side of the road, there is a fountain dedicated to the Virgin Mary, where pregnant women, nursing mothers and wet nurses used to go to pour water on their arms and breasts, so that the Virgin would ensure a good production of milk. The place is known as "la fontaine du lait", the fountain of milk, and there are many in Brittany.

Legend has it that on one occasion an incredulous husband mocked his wife for performing such a practice at the fountain, and not content with laughing at her, he poured water over himself to ridicule her even more. Soon she had milk in her breasts .....
