Caridad. Compañia seguros. Viñeta publicitaria, Dinamarca 1950-1960
Advertising stamp, Poster-stamp, label, stamp, vignette.
Dimensions: 61 x 39 mm.
Poster stamps or Cinderella stamps were very fashionable in the first two decades of the 20th century, but their production declined after the First World War; the earliest known dates from 1845 and they are still produced today. They are miniature posters, with the appearance of stamps (without postal value), issued by governments, organisations or individuals, for advertising, promotional or commemorative purposes.
Charity is a Christian virtue, opposed to hatred and animosity. It is one of the three theological virtues along with Faith and Hope. Defined in the words of Christ: "You shall love ... your neighbour as yourself" (Matt 19:19 and 22:39, Mark 12:31 and Luke 10:27), St. Paul equates it with Love and defines it as superior in excellence to the other two virtues (1 Cor 13:13).
