Medal engraved by Marcel Declerck, commemorating the centenary of the birth of Alexandre Desrousseaux (Lille, 1820 - 1892), composer and critical witness of his time. Author of the famous lullaby "Dors min p'tit Quinquin" (Sleep my little boy, in Picardy slang), a sad song in which a mother, while rocking her child, laments the hard working conditions she has and how, until the child falls asleep, she cannot go to work. Living conditions were so bad, and such was the terrible labour exploitation of men, women and children, that infant mortality in the Northern region was over 200/1000 at the time.
