Peter Paul Rubens, Flemish painter (Siegen, 1577 - Antwerp, 1640), leading exponent of the Baroque period. His 115 x 85 cm oil painting, "Helena Fourment with her children, Clara, Johanna and Frans", dated 1636, is in the Louvre. Helena Fourment was the painter's second wife.
In Islamic countries, Mother's Day is celebrated on 21 March. The whole series is made up of suggestive, but not explicit, images of breastfeeding, perhaps due to the conventions of the Islamic religion.
