Mengs's father (Bohemia, 1728 - 1779), a painter himself, named him after his favourite painters: Antonio Correggio and Raphael de Sanzio. He was court painter to Charles III of Spain, representing the beginning of Neoclassicism, and suggested to the king the creation of a public museum: the future Prado Museum. We do not know the location of the original work.
