Sandro Botticelli (Florence, 1444-1510). His real name was Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi (Botticelli = big-headed, which was the family nickname for his older brother's obesity). A Renaissance painter with late Gothic influences, he was a pupil of Fra Filippo Lippi and teacher of the latter's son Filippino Lippi.
The stamp depicts the central image of the tempera panel "The Virgin and Child Enthroned between St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist" (San Bardi Altapiece), 185 x 180 cm, painted in 1484, in the Staatliche Museum, Berlin.
