Laura Pacheco Torrijo, nurse at the Hospital Marina Alta Denia, then Denia Hospital (Alicante, Spain), is president of the Nodrissa GroupThe Breastfeeding Support Group, a breastfeeding support group that maintains and organises the annual Photo Contest "Breastfeeding Marina Alta", competition conceived in 1996 by Dr. José María Paricio Talayero, Head of the Paediatrics Service of the Marina Alta hospital, as a means of socially normalising the image of women breastfeeding. The aim of this competition is to promotion of breastfeeding through the cultural revival of the image of breastfeeding and the breastfeedingThis has been censored especially in the West and causes problems for breastfeeding on demand, as women feel the ambiguity of the gaze when breastfeeding in public. Editions have been held without interruption since 1997.
The Marina Alta Hospital in Denia was accredited by the IHAN of WHO-UNICEF from 1999 until its closure in 2009 as a Baby Friendly Hospital.
