The Turkana are a Nilotic people of about 1 million living in Turkana in northwestern Kenya (3% of the total population) and a small part also in Ethiopia and South Sudan. They speak Turkana and are semi-nomadic pastoralists and farmers.

They are also known as Bume, Buma, Ngaturkwana or Ngiturkwana.

Turkana women often wear large numbers of beads around their necks, along with an aluminium or brass necklace.
